How did this happen?
The transaction may have been initiated by mistake or by someone who can access the app on your biometric or PIN-protected device.
It is also possible that someone may be impersonating you and stolen your online banking login details. They may have been successful in connecting your bank account to their Civic Wallet account.
Civic takes identity protection very seriously and while we have implemented many measures to protect yours, identity theft continues to be a prevalent issue.
What should you do now?
- You should report the transaction as fraudulent activity to support and our team can prevent any further activity on your account.
- Next, be sure to update your banking password.
- Also, if your device is PIN protected, please update that as well.
- Then, you should report the charges as fraudulent to your bank and initiate a dispute.
